Introduction and scope

Federal and state rules require us to screen commercial drivers. With your authorization, this includes motor vehicle records, prior-employer safety performance history, the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, DOT drug and alcohol testing, medical examiner certification, and background checks.
Information collected automatically
When you visit lorenzbus.com, our servers and analytics tools record your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, pages viewed, and date and time of access.
Information collected on our vehicles
Our vehicles use GPS and telematics systems, and some carry onboard video cameras, for safety, security, and operations. These systems may capture images and audio of passengers and drivers, vehicle location, and driving events.
Information from others
We may receive information from school districts and organizations that contract with us (such as rider rosters and stop locations), trip organizers who book on behalf of a group, and screening providers described in 2.2.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Prepare quotes, confirm bookings, plan routes, and operate trips
- Communicate with you by email, phone, or text message about trips, schedule changes, and service issues
- Process payments and maintain business records
- Evaluate job applicants and meet FMCSA, U.S. DOT, and Minnesota driver-qualification requirements
- Protect the safety and security of passengers, drivers, the public, and our vehicles, including investigating incidents and insurance claims
- Operate, secure, and improve lorenzbus.com and understand how visitors use it
- Send occasional service updates or marketing, which you can opt out of at any time
- Comply with laws, regulations, contracts, and lawful requests from authorities
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run our business:
- Service providers that host our website, process payments, provide telematics and video systems, manage email and scheduling, run analytics, and perform driver screening. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Clients and trip organizers, such as the school district, company, or group that booked a trip, when information relates to that trip.
- Partner carriers when another licensed operator helps fulfill your trip.
- Insurers, attorneys, and auditors for claims, legal advice, and audits.
- Government and law enforcement when required by law, regulation, subpoena, or to protect someone’s safety, including FMCSA and Minnesota Department of Public Safety requirements.
- A successor business if Lorenz is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We may also share information with your consent or at your direction.
Cookies and tracking technologies
lorenzbus.com uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences, and measure traffic. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, and may use advertising pixels (such as Meta) to measure and improve our marketing.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and manage ad preferences at aboutads.info. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where required by law.
Student data and children’s privacy
When we transport students under contract with a school district, the district controls student information and we process it only on the district’s behalf. We use rosters, stop assignments, and related details solely to provide the contracted transportation, and we protect them as the contract, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act require. Parents and guardians should direct requests about student records to their school district.
lorenzbus.com is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Retention, security, and your rights
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Driver qualification, drug and alcohol testing, and hours-of-service records are kept for the periods FMCSA regulations set. Onboard video is overwritten on a rolling basis unless saved for an incident, claim, or legal request. Trip and billing records are kept for tax and accounting purposes.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including access controls and encrypted connections, to protect personal information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including under the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling
- Appeal our decision on your request
To make a request, email [email protected] or call 763.784.7196. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within the time the law requires.
